Tom Hanks

Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born July 9 1956. He is an American actor as well as a filmmaker and director. Popular for his dramatic and comedic role, he is one of the most loved and recognizable film stars worldwide and is considered an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the child of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother, who was originally referred to as "Fraga", was a Portuguese family. His father, however, was predominantly English. Tom was raised in a "fractured family". He had no acting experience in college and attributes his inability get a role in a college production as the reason for his beginning career. He attended a downtown audition to be cast in a play at the theater for community members. The director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that's how his acting career began.
